बीते तीन वर्षों की तरह इस बार भी प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी ने जवानों के साथ दीपावली मनाई। बॉर्डर पर यानि (loc) से लगे जम्मू-कश्मीर के गुरेज सेक्टर में मोदी जी ने कहा कि “लोग परिवार के साथ दीपावली मनाते हैं पर ये जवान ही मेरा परिवार है”।
प्रधानमंत्री ने ये भी कहा “मैं पिछले १८ साल से दीपावली सीमा पर मनाता आया हूं। मैं सैनिकों के साथ वक्त गुजारता हूं तो मुझे एक नई ऊर्जा मिलती है। हमारी सरकार ने वन रैंक वन पेंशन का समाधन निकाला जिसमें हमें जवानों का भी साथ मिला।”
इस बीच पीएम ने सैनिकों और उनके परिवार वालों को दीपावली की शुभकामनाएं देते हुए कहा कि केंद्र सरकार सशस्त्र बलों के कल्याण और सुधार के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध है। पीएम यहां सुबह करीब १० बजकर ४७ मिनट पर पहुंचे। प्रधानमंत्री के साथ सेनाध्यक्ष बिपिन रावत भी उपस्थित थे। इससे पहले मोदी ने देशवासियों को दीपावली की बधाई दी।
मोदी ने सोशल मीडिया के द्वारा भी अपने संदेश में लिखा, “दीपावली के पावन पर्व पर सभी देशवासियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं।”

वह पिछले तीन साल से जवानों के साथ दीपावली मना रहे हैं। प्रधानमंत्री बनने के बाद २०१४ में उन्होंने अपनी दीपावली सियाचिन में सेना के जवानों के साथ मनाई थी। २०१५ में डोगराई वार मेमोरियल पर उन्होंने जवानों के साथ दीपावली का त्योहार मनाया था। पिछले साल (२०१६) उन्होंने हिमाचल प्रदेश में आईटीबीपी जवानों के साथ दीपावली मनाई थी।
